Business is a never-ending process of personal and professional development. Systems that worked beautifully today become broken tomorrow. The only constant we can reliably count on is that things will change. As a result, we have to be able to change as well. And with that comes the responsibility and challenge of being adaptable.
If you’re feeling stuck in business, there are things you can do, steps you can take that will unlock sustainable, long-term growth. You just have to be willing to put in the work. And in this article, I’m going to show you how. Here are 6 simple secrets for sustainable business growth.
1. Mindset
Mindset is the underappreciated factor when it comes to success. And the reason it’s so important is that it’s literally the one and only thing that you have absolute control over. You can’t control anything else except the dialogue that is going on in between your two ears—your mindset. You can’t control the economy, you can’t control Trump, you can’t control Carney, etc.
Your mindset is the only thing that you can influence.
And the cool thing is that when you generate a new mindset, you (by default) also generate new results. And this is huge in business because sales are contingent on the mindset of the salesperson, not the attitude of the prospect. To strengthen your mindset when it comes to sales, there are a couple of things you need.
First, empathy. Being able to put yourself in someone else’s shoes is very important. It means listening more than speaking. It means understanding more than seeking to be understood. Second, you need the expertise to actually solve the customer’s problem. And lastly, you need some energy and enthusiasm! Positive energy is contagious. And people want to be around others who are positive!
2. Video
There is unbelievable power when it comes to video. If you’re someone who struggles with video (filming yourself and putting it out there into the world), our speaker training, Elevate EST, will be very helpful to you. Video allows you to authentically connect, draw people in, and create engagement with your brand and business.
Here is a simple video template you can follow when creating content:
-
- Problem: Talk about a specific problem that you had or that is relatable to your audience.
- Struggle: Bring up the emotional turmoil you experience as a result of that problem.
- Solution: Mention the solution of how you overcame it.
These simple tips allow you to appear more “human” to your audience. As a result, they feel greater levels of trust when they think of you and your brand. And that’s what will, more than likely, increase the possibility of the sale.
3. Team
Team has been a game-changer for me. Everything changed when I got connected with my tribe, my people. And this is true of everyone. We as people, as human beings, are wired for community. It’s in our nature. For this reason, you need to find your team to truly rise when it comes to business.
Your team will give you contacts, recommendations, referrals, etc. As a result, it’s an invaluable aspect of your business. Get involved with the right team; they will take you (and your business) to places you can’t even imagine right now.
4. Touch People
I want you to think about this: Your phone is a goldmine. Use it to touch people. Use it to influence others. There’s a reason I’ve had 6-figure years every year since 2008. And it’s because of the continual touchpoints I have with people.
Here’s what I do every day:
- 8 calls/texts/DMs
- 2 social posts
I make 10 contacts every day with the above system. This is what has allowed me to consistently reach my revenue goals, stay connected with the right people, and build my personal brand over time. This touchpoint system will change your life.
5. FW IT
If you’re wondering what I mean by “FW,” it simply means Flourishing Workplace. We have an unbelievable program where we’re reaching out to organizations (government, non-profits, etc.). In the last month alone, I have signed $250,000 worth of business through this platform.
6. Get Creative
People aren’t the only things that can age well. So can old content and ideas. This is where your creativity can really come into play. I’d like to bring to your attention the idea of fanning new flames with old offers. Those contracts I talked about in the previous point all came from me applying everything we’ve been covering. And that includes me simply just being creative with my content, my brand, and my interactions with others.
I care about people. And that shines through in the way I interact with them. And as a result, I’m able to continuously use my creativity to land contracts, clients, and customers. I want to do business with people long-term.
