Are you uncertain of your business model? If so, it’s one of the most important things you need to gain clarity on. And I’m here to help clear up some of that confusion by sharing with you the 5 secrets to mastering your business model fast. Keep reading to learn more.
Secret #1: Anchoring in Purpose
Here’s the thing… Confusion comes from chasing too many opportunities without clarity on why. Sinon Sinek once said, “People don’t buy what you do. They buy why you do it.” That’s brilliant. And that’s why I always recommend that business owners, entrepreneurs, coaches, etc., write down their mission in a one-sentence statement.
We exist to [you fill in the blank]. It’s a beautiful way to gain clarity on your business and cut to the root as to why you do what you do. So powerful.
Secret #2: Define Your Core Client
The reality is that if you try to serve everyone, you won’t serve anyone. You have to narrow it down. Why? Because not everyone is your customer. They can’t be. And that’s okay. You have to find the right ones. And this allows you to be free from the ball and chain of always having to fit into someone’s box for your life.
This is where you define your customers’ psychographics (where they hurt, what they fear, and what they desire) and demographics (who they are and what defines them as a group). In short, you want to uncover all of the nitty-gritty details that separate them from other audiences.
Secret #3: Solve One Big Problem With One Big Promise
Now, here’s the challenge: If you’re trying to solve too many problems, again, that leads to confusion. Confusion multiplies when your offer is too broad. And the key with that is that you don’t need a big, fancy solution. In fact, the offers that have made me 6 figures were simple solutions I started selling before they were even built.
You may think that’s backwards, but no, it’s perfect. It’s called listening to the market. This is what hones your focus so you deliver something of value that people will actually want and buy. Steve Jobs once said, “Deciding what NOT to do is just as important as deciding what to do.”
Secret #4: Choose a Scalable Delivery System
Your business needs to grow without burning you out. John Maxwell, the leadership great, once said, “If you want to do a few small things right, do them yourself. But if you want to achieve great things, build a team.” When you move from the “me” to the “we,” you create a scalable business model that allows you to grow without burning your sanity and mental health to the ground.
Speak #5: Speak to Pain But Always Offer a Promise
This is all about how you talk to your prospective customer. Here’s the thing… People aren’t buying coaching or whatever your product or service happens to be. They’re buying relief from pain and a pathway to hope. When customers feel that you understand their pain, they relax enough to hear your promise. And that’s when the opportunity to help them comes in.
So you have to always connect the struggle of your clients (their pain points) to your solution (your product or service). This is your first practical step.
